Learning to Read and Write Kanji Repeat Row 1

As with other posts in this series, this is the results of a test I took today, Thursday, Aug 26th, 2021.

I am starting to learn kanji I didn't learn correctly previously. See my tests post to find out how I figured that out. I'm doing surprisingly well. I suspect that there is some learning phenomenon going on. I forgot 6 readings, which is not good, but I only got 3 wrong on this test, one of which was in this row, so I'm counting it as correct. I got 易しい (easy) wrong, type 3 (forgetting it completely). I did it yesterday, so it's one of those type. Also from this row I drew 落ちる (fall, drop, come down) incorrectly. I drew all the pieces correctly but the water needs to be under the grass, not to the left of it. Also from this row I missed a stroke in 習う (learn), because it's imperceptibly small, I consider it to be fine for communication. If there was a kanji that had 羽 over 日, I would count this wrong, but there is not. How do I know? See figure 2. Not from this row I got 符 (token) wrong, type 2. I got 頼む (trust, request) wrong, type 3. I got 替える (exchange) wrong, but close enough for communication. You might think that 木 (tree) and 夫 (husband) look nothing alike and you'd be right, but do Japanese people have a kanji with two trees over a sun? They do not! Case closed, two trees over a sun is equivalent in communication to 替. I thought a bit about 力 (power, strength, strong, strain, bear up, exert) vs 強 (strong) and decided on 強 erroneously. I know how to write 力 of course but it's still a type 1 error.

What's going on in my life? I'm still learning Portuguese. I injured my ankle, so I'm taking it easy for a few days. I am learning to play songs including but not limited to Mary Had A Little Lamb, Twinkle Twinkle, Happy Birthday To You, Frère Jacques, The Wheels on the Bus, Super Mario Theme, Think 一緒に, Peanuts Theme, Amazing Grace, Aura Lee, MGMT - Kids, Megalovania, Rain Rain Go Away, and Ode to Joy. I'm taking it easy on learning difficult songs right now, so expect little from me until I get a few hundred more hours of practice in. Like kanji, music is a language that takes effort and those of us without enough practice as children will have to spend time to learn as adults.

I'm finding a lot of good learning resources and rather than post them here I thought I would let you know that they exist and are a little bit difficult to find. Don't get stuck in the tutorial loop -- find a resource and get to it.

I'll hopefully post all tests as I pass them. Wish me .
